You should try & handle baby rats from 5 days onwards. It the mother tries to bite you, or you're scared of her rejecting the babies after wards, you can wait till they are opening their eyes or 3 weeks old.

If the mother is trustful, a few days after they're born. This is for the best because you're socializing them as soon as possible, they'll make great pets =3
