when he is 2 weeks
It would be best to change the litter before the gerbil gives birth so changing the cage while the gerbil is pregnant is fine. Also beneficial to the new Born's.
The female gerbil CAN accept a new female gerbil, but it totally depends on the characteristics of the two gerbils. If one is friendly, and the other is hostile and territorial, they don't go together. You just have to try it out to see what works. some females get along but all of them.
Elisabeth Sanxay Holding was born on June 18, 1889, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
you can start a new heart of gold by holding down L R and the walking controls all at the same time
When they have started to develop fur. if you hold them to early, their mother may abandon them, so you shouldn't hold them until they are completely furry and can walk or run.
Gerbil hair loss may be caused by many reasons. The gerbil's cage mate could be fighting him for dominance, and could've bitten there; you may have to watch them. Mites can cause hair loss, and that needs to be checked out immediately. Or the gerbil is simply bored and is over-grooming. Throw in an extra toy or something new!
Yes you will you have to move on! If you get more than 1 gerbil, chances are that they will live longer and be happier with a companion. PLease get at least 2 gerbils they need companions of their own species!!
For the safety of the gerbil, you should only hold the babies after they open their eyes. At this time, they are more mobile and should be picking up new scents. If you pick them up at a younger stage, the parents may think your scent is that of a predator and they will kill and eat the baby.

NO!! Washing your gerbils with water can give it several diseases. Few gerbils survive baths. If you would like to bathe your gerbil, buy Chinchilla Dust (made from volcanic ash, is safe) and put it in a container for your gerbils to run around in. If your gerbil HAS to get something off (like a sticky residue from food) you can use the very tip of a slightly damp cloth but IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS make sure to dry your gerbil off COMPLETELY. Also, I would recommend getting a new, better gerbil book (like the Discovery Channel one)
