You can begin typing on the left as usual. You then then centre the completed text by various means, like pressing Ctrl and E, clicking on the center icon, using the formatting options. You could also set them first and then type the text.
Not sure why you would want to do that, but Excel supports it if that is what you decide to do.
Click in the bar in the center bottom area of the screen. Then start typing.

The alignment group buttons only align horizontally. If you want to align vertically, select cell format and format the cell.
Click 'answer it' then type in the box located underneath the blue bar. Once you are done typing click 'save' and you are done.
if you are aged 13+, you can click the Enter key to start typing. Click enter again to finish.
