The turbocharger turbine housing and exhaust manifold on any state of the art high horsepower (per litre of displacement) diesel engine will glow red as it approaches full load condition.
You want to make sure all of the parts you purchase are capable of handling large loads. Read the descriptions in full on the different models of each item before you buy them.
That is a necessary evil thanks to the EPA. A diesel truck won't pass emissions without one. Chevy and Ford have them too, they catch the black soot that diesel engines are famous for and store it. When the filter gets full the truck injects raw fuel into the filter to re-burn the soot, Unfortunately dodges think they are full all the time and have a steady stream of diesel pouring into the exhaust helping you burn that $4.00 a gal fuel. But it could be a Ford and shoot a 10 foot flame out the exhaust burning up the RV or load of hay your pulling.
They use the Cummins aftertreatment system with the DPF, DEF doser, and SCR on their vehicles equipped with Cummins engines. After the failure of the MaxxForce aftertreatment system to meet EPA and CARB requirements, they've gone to a full aftertreatment system with DEF and an SCR for the MaxxForce engines, as well.

Yes as it does not have the lubrication of diesel. Also may damage fuel filter. Don't drive. Get quotes to clean out tank, filters etc but if you want to risk it and tank is not full you can fill with diesel and then run engine to use petrol/diesel mix. Get tank emptied by mechanic for safety. Change filters soon afterwards .
I happen to won a 97 3500 w/cummins diesel! You look between the hydro booster and the rear of the engin! You will see a canister with a 1/2 nut on top! Loosin nut and hold bottom of canister.. remove canister and extract filter. Wix fuel filters come with detailed instruction sheet! After reinstalling filter you have to manually pump fuel filter full. Manual pump is located behind the fuel injector pump attached to block of engin. You have to look hard to find it the first time but once you find it you will know where it is from then. hope this helps you!
It is capable as long as it is off road use only. The off road diesel contains a red dye that stains the fuel filter, so if you're caught on road with red dyed filters or a tank full of red diesel you may get in trouble with law enforcement. Off road diesel does not have road taxes added to the cost.
