A healthcare professional who works under the direction of a physician and manages medical emergencies that occur away from the medical setting is an emergency medical technician.
There are Respiratory Therapists, Respiratory Nurses, and Respiratory Therapy Technicians. However, I have never heard of a Respiratory Aide, and the U.S. Department of Labor does not list it within their occupational handbook. The closest to the aide type of position would be the Respiratory Therapy Technician who operates under the direction of the Respiratory Therapist and/or the Physician.

The normal respiratory rate for a newborn is 30-60 breaths a minute. When the respiratory rate drops below that, this is a symptom of sleep apnea or respiratory difficulties, and the baby should be seen by a physician immediately.
Respiratory distress is considered a serious medical issue in triage requiring urgent medical assistance from a Physician and Nurse.
