The Bereans were people who lived in Beroea, a city in Macedonia, near Thessalonica, where Paul preached on his second missionery journey. They were HIGHLY commended because, when it came to spiritual matters, they would not take anyone's word for anything. They carefully examined the Scriptures daily to see whether the things Paul taught them were supported by God's Word. They are a good example for Christians today. (Acts 17:10-11) Because of their diligence in proving the truth of what they were learning, many of these "noble-minded" persons, both Jews and Greeks listened and became Christians. Silas and Timothy were left behind to care for this new group in Beroea.-Acts 17:12-15.On his third missionery journey, one of Paul's companions was Sopater, a Christian from Beroea.-Acts 20:1-4.
Mark traveled along with Paul as he was a friend and his cousin Barnabas , had also joined Paul l in his numerous missionary journeys to Antioch, Corinth, Philippi, Beroea and many other places.
