When did fuel injection begin with all vehicles? I answer you question with a question.
I think that the vehicle industry is RAPING us as consumers. I believe that modulators in vehicles, and computer run systems, made it so, all newer vehicles had to be worked on by those whom had the software.
What a sham.
I think, someone could make MILLIONS, but re-engineering EVERY engine system from then till now, to run without computer enhancements.
Can this be done?
My mom's Chevy van, is now 12 years old. She still pays Chevy to for her van checkups, because the van itslf requires their software. That's monopolizing. And that's NOT fair.
Capitalizing on everyone. Now, unlike before, even used veilcles MUST go to where the software is. What a crock.
PLEASE, someone, re-engineer a way around the computers, so we can end this cycle of raping!
Signed,
Super pissed.

NEW ANSWER: Chevy used fuel injection in the early 50s then they faded away with it and did not start using it again until the late 1980s
gm bought allison in 1987
That year has a Carburetor on it. They started using fuel injection in late 1987
Throttle, Body, Injection. It was the induction system Chevy was using in the early 90's, with little success, I might ad.
GM. did not start using TPS / THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS until they switch to the fuel injection fuel system. Your truck has a carburetor, TPS was not used on that type of fuel system.
CHEVY guit using carburetors back in 1987. You truck is fuel injected / TBI. Throttle body injection.
Most all cars and trucks started in late 1992 to 1993 but everything was R134a in 1994...
You have a clogged or possibly rusty fuel injection line....try using a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, it worked for my 93 lumina.
If it was a 1983 3/4 or 1 ton then someone may have ORDER an oil cooler on it from the factory. ( possible ) They didn't start using Factory oil coolers on all trucks until late month of 1987 I believe.
think it was 1983
Not unless it was swapped in. They didn't start using any sort of computerized engines until they introduced their Throttle Bottle Injection system the next model year (1987). If it has a carburetor, it's all mechanical.
Made first one in 1967 295hp
1986
