The reasons for the coming of Christ from whom Christianity originated are given in the following passages of Scripture. The exact nature of the fall of Adam and Eve related below is a matter for debate but Jewish history and subsequent events confirm that this event or an event of a similar nature took place which necessitated the coming of Christ.

From the beginning God made us in His image and therefore able to share in His Divine nature but when Adam and Eve, being tempted by the serpent/devil, disobeyed God by "eating of the fruit of the tree of tree of the knowledge of good and evil"their eyes were opened and God said, "'Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever' therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man; and at the east of the Garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life." (Genesis Chapter 3)

God promised the serpent/devil "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." (Genesis Chapter 3)

He promised a "Redeemer" from the children of Eve who would restore our link to Him. Until that time came He sent the prophets as mediators between Himself and his people to spread the Law and keep alive the promise He made. "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. "You shall have no other gods before me...." (Exodus Ch 20) "Fear not... the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. ….. For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In overflowing wrath for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you, says the LORD, your Redeemer.(Isaiah Chapter 54) "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfil the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring forth for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land" (Jeremiah Chapter 33)

At the appropriate time the Redeemer came in the person of Jesus Christ, son of the Living God born of the Virgin Mary, a descendant of Eve, who is our King and ruler of the Kingdom of Heaven.

AnswerChristianity as we know it today was codified in 325 at the Council of Nicea. Before that date, it was a variety of Judaism that believed that Jesus was the promised Messiah of Israel.

The apostles were Jewish men who studied with Jesus, and were firmly convinced that he was The Anointed One which was promised by God in the Old Testament. The book of Acts in the New Testament records their reactions and journeys in spreading their beliefs to Jew and Gentile.

The big split between Christianity and Judaism came about 135 CE during the Bar Kokhba Revolt. The Christians did not believe that Bar Kokhba was the Messiah, as they already knew that Jesus was. But the leadership of Judaism pushed for Bar Kokhba as Messiah, and the Christians did not participate in the revolt. This led to the division of Jew and Christian as it is today.

AnswerChristianity originated in order to bring the Law of Moses to the European pagans. To make the law attractive to them, Christianity's images are all pagan, from the virgin birth of Jesus to his ritual sacrifice and resurrection, because these are familiar ideas that the pagans could recognize and understand. Later, of course, the founders of the church mistook the package - wrapped as it was in pagan imagery - for the Law itself that the package was intended to contain: Love one another and treat each other with justice and mercy. And so instead of justice and mercy we have holy wars and inquisitions, where bloody fools argue and kill each other over meaningless doctrinal distinctions about the wrapping material covering the Law of peace and love they have forgotten inside. God laughs, but Jesus weeps. Religious strife breaks his heart.

God planned "Christianity" from before the foundation of the world. First He called a people, the Jews and they were to evangelize the world, telling of a Messiah to come. Finally down through the ages the Messiah did come in the person of Jesus. The Jewish people did not believe Jesus was the Messiah and had Him crucified. But Jesus's disciples/ Apostles did believe Jesus was the Messiah and on Pentecost the Holy Spirit of God entered their hearts and the Christian church began. Christianity started and will continue because we (Christians) believe in their heart that Jesus is the Son of God and is the Savior of the world. Jesus said, "The gates of hell will not prevail against the church". My translation.

Christianity never 'started.' It has always been there, as God has also, being outside of time. As man followed God, a name was put to the followers: Christians. So Christianity is defined.

Jesus came to establish His Father's Church which is called the 'Church of God' about a dozen times in Scripture. In the book of acts, followers of Jesus were first referred to as 'the Way' and soon became 'Christian' or followers of Christ.

Most would point to the first Pentecost in Jerusalem, 50 days after the Resurrection of Christ, as an April Sunday in 31 AD.

Christianity was not invented.

According to The Bible, Christianity was arranged for by Jehovah God, the Creator.

Why?

Because our fore-parents Adam & Eve lost their inheritance which they now couldn't pass on to their offspring. They lost everlasting life in an earthly Paradise.

Jehovah God in his great love, arranged for his Son to come to earth, to repurchase what was lost. That Son was Christ Jesus. Christ gave his life; and presented the value of his blood, as payment for what was lost.

Jesus also revealed to mankind more about our Creator; his qualities, his purposes, and his righteous requirements.

Jesus invited people to 'follow him'. That's what Christian means; 'follower of Christ'.

Jesus organized them to accomplish the preaching of the good news of the Kingdom. Thus we have 'organized Christianity'. (There was no trial-&-error involved as there usually is in inventions.)

Short Answer: TRUE Christianity(the act of following the ways and teachings of Jesus Christ) was 'developed' by God, as the way to bring sinful mankind back into a relationship with Him and ultimately fulfill God's original purpose for man . Long Answer with explanation: When God created man, there was ONE religion. Obedience to the one God. Period. Mankind was to live forever on earth, worshipping the creator, in perfect health and happiness.(Genesis 2:15-17) But Adam and Eve chose to turn AWAY from God, bringing sin (or imperfection) to the entire human race which was still unborn inside Eve. Because of sin, there are now multiple religions, multiple governments, war and hatred, sickness and death. (Romans 5:12) When people were born on earth, they were now IMperfect, and sinful, but God's purpose to have perfect people living on a perfect earth had not changed. (Isaiah 55:10&11)We needed a way to fulfill God's original purpose, and gain back perfection and ever lasting life. God arranged for a 'Messiah' or 'Christ' (anointed one) to rescue mankind from death. The Hebrew scriptures (old testament) are full of prophecies and illustrations pointing forward to the coming Messiah, that would save man from his sins.(John 3:16)

The whole Jewish system was set up in expectation of the coming of the Messiah , and the Mosaic Law (the law given to Moses) prefigured his coming, by reminding people that God's perfect law could not be kept by imperfect people. Something more was needed. The animal sacrifices under the law, prefigured the ultimate sacrifice of the Messiah, when he arrived.(Romans 6:23)(1 Timothy 2:5&6)(1 Corin 15:45) When the Messiah came , he would 'fulfill' the law of Moses perfectly. He would be the only one who could, because he would be God's son, born as a perfecthuman man. And only a perfect man could keep God's law perfectly. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies about this Messiah. Adam was perfect, and purposely turned aside and sinned, causing the death of mankind. Jesus was perfect, and remained so till his death, willingly giving up his life as a ransom, or PAYMENT, for what Adam had lost. (Hebrews 9:24) Because Jesus died faithful, unlike Adam, people would now have a choice of who to follow. (Romans 5:12) They could follow the ways of their original father, Adam, and die, or they could follow their NEW father, Jesus, and live. TRUE Christianity is the ongoing faith of those loyal to God.(Matthew 7:21-3) The Jewish rituals, which all pointed toward the Messiah, were replaced in their time, with this 'new covenant', which was taught by the Messiah himself.(Hebrews 8:10) (Hebrews 10:23-5)(John 13:35) Christianity was developed in line with Jesus' teachings, to help faithful people to stay in step with God's purpose and direction, and to teach others God's word.(Matthew 28:19&20) The Christian congregation was formed to accomplish the organized preaching work around the world and to provide encouragement to Christians who must survive in a rebellious world. (John 13:35)(Matthew 24:14) The Christian handbook is the Bible, and our lives must harmonize with it to be approved by God. (Psalms 119:105)

To answer that question; first we need to know more about the person and the origin of the name christianity. Many people have around the world have heard something about Jesus Christ, even though he lived on earth some 2,000 years ago. Yet, many are confused about who Jesus really was. Some say that he was merely a good man. Other claim that he was nothing more than a prophet. Still others beleive that Jesus is God and should be worshiped.

It is important for you to know the truth about Jesus. Why? Because the bible says: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."(John 17:3) Yes, Knowing the truth about Jehovah God and about Jesus Christ can lead to everlasting life on a paradise earth. (John 14:6)

In the first century C.E., the disciples of Jesus of Nazareth were fully convinced that he was the foretold Messiah.( John 1:41) One of the disciple, a man named Simon Peter, openly said to Jesus: "You are the Christ." (Matthew 16:16) Also the bible teaches that Jesus lived in heaven before he came to earth. Micah prophesied that the Messiah was " from early times." (Micah 5:2) On many occasions, Jesus himself said that he lived in heaven before being born as a human. (John 3:13; 6:38,62; 17:4,5) Jesus is Jehovah's most precious Son--and he is called " the firstborn of all creation," for he God's first creation." (Colossians 1:15) And the bible teaches that in no way is Jesus equal to God (John 14:9) So now that we understand the origin of Jesus now the work he assign to his faithful disciples.

Jesus said: "To other cities I must declare the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this I was sent forth." (Luke 4:43) Why did Jesus make God's Kingdom the main theme of his ministry? He knew that he himself as King of that Kingdom, along with his resurrected spirit-begotten brothers, would deal with the root causes of mankind's woes-sin and the Devil. (Rom. 5:12; Rev. 20:10) Hence, he commanded his followers to proclaim that Kingdom until the end of the present system of things. (Matt. 24:14) People who merely profess to be followers of Christ do not engage in this work-in fact, they cannot. Why? For at least three reasons: First, they cannot preach what they do not understand. Second, most of them lack the humility and courage needed to face the ridicule and opposition that may result from sharing the Kingdom message with their neighbors. (Matt. 24:9; 1 Pet. 2:23) And third, false Christians do not have God's spirit.-John 14:16, 17.
