He invented it in the year 1869. The people, instead of heralding it, criticized his invention severley due to which it was rejected. But still he wasn't dissappointed and did not lose hope but decided that he will not waste his time on inventing things no one wanted! What an attitude!!!

it was thomas Edison who invented the electrical vote recorder but I don't know what it is
His first was for an electric vote recorder, in 1869.
No, Dr. E.A. Kennelly and Harold P. Brown invented the electric chair.
Thomas Edison received his first patent, U.S. Patent 90,646, on June 1, 1869. This patent was for the electric vote recorder.
Edison invented the Electric Vote Recorder to improve the voting process in congress - which was a remarkably inefficient and time-consuming process. Edison invented and received his first patent for this machine and promptly traveled to Washington D.C. to demonstrate the device to a congressional representative. At the demonstration of Edison's invention, the congressman praised Edison's ingenuity and vision. Nevertheless, the congressman promptly turned down the device saying, "Filibustering and delay in the tabulation of votes are often the only means we have for defeating bad or improper legislation." Later Edison said: "There and then I made a vow that I would never again invent anything which was not wanted." Edison's invention was a "failure" only because it was a century ahead of its time. The system used in congress (federal and state) today is based on the same idea as Edison's Electric Vote Recorder.
The vote recorder is something Thomas Edison invented.
Thomas Edison invented the vote recorder and it was rejected from people. People wanted an invention that was useful.

automatic recorder
First, understand that Edison was a "self publicist" and may of the things which he is attributed to have invented were in fact invented before him. For instance he did not actually invent the "light bulb", this was invented in 1800 by Humphry Davy. When you look closely many of Edison's "inventions" should not be attributed to him in the manner that they currently are.
1868: He invented an automatic vote recorder for legislatures.
