How did President Pierce's Veto Influence the federal government in these reform efforts?

I do not what veto or reform efforts you are thinking about. Pierce made several vetoes but I think all were to stop federal funds from being spent for what has become known as pork barrel spending. His vetoes obviously did not permanently stop Congressmen from buying votes by offering hand-outs, but they may have slowed them for a little while.
