Hereward the Wake, was said to have escaped and then gone back to get the money from the danes, he was never seen again. Whereas, many other noblemen and peasants who joined the rebellion were tortured. The nobles were imprisoned, and the peasants had their hands and feet cut off or their eyes put out.
