After the death of Akbar in 1605, his eldest son Jahangir succeeded him. (1605-1627)
Jahangir was Akbar's eldest son.
Jahangir died on 28th October 1627. He was not killed by anyone.
He was succeeded by his son, A'la Azad Abul Muzaffar Shahab ud-Din Mohammad Khurram (January 5, 1592 - February 1, 1666) better known by his imperial name Shah Jahan.
During the first year of Jahangir's reign, his eldest son Khusrau rebelled against him. Jahangir successfully suppressed his rebellion and imprisoned him. In 1622, his son Shah Jahan also turned a rebel. However, Shah Jahan's revolt was unsuccessful and he offered his submission. But, Mahabat Khan, one of his generals, imprisoned Jahangir in 1626. This time Nur Jahan was able to free Jahangir.
No one killed Emperor Jahangir. He was addicted to opium and wine. Unfortunately, excessive drinking has affected his health and he died in 1627 on the way from Kashmir.
Shah Jahan was the third son of Jahangir. Jahangir's eldest sons Khusrau and Parveiz had died before their father. After Jahangir's death, Empress Nur Jahan wished to place her son-in-law Shahryar on the throne. But Nur Jahan's brother and wazir of the Kingdom, Asaf Khan, helped Shah Jahan to ascend the throne after defeating Shahryar.

Jahangir was the eldest surviving son of Akbar the Great. According to their tradition, eldest son will succeed a monarch. He ascended the throne after the death of Akbar in 1605.
The Coronation was held on 11 June 1775.
Shah Jahan ascended the throne at Lahore on 30 December 1627. He ruled till 1658.
Salim was the son of Mughal Emperor Akbar, who later ruled as Emperor Jahangir. Jahangir was known for his patronage of the arts, his administrative reforms, and his conflict with his son, Shah Jahan, who later succeeded him as emperor.
Bahadur Shah Zafar (1837-1857) was the last Mughal Emperor. He ascended the throne of Delhi on 29 September 1837.
His eldest son Salim succeeded Akbar after his death in 1605. Salim ascended the throne with the title Jahangir (1605-1627).
