On Apr.10,1861 the Confederate Secretary of War, Walker, telegraphed to Gen. Beauregard to ask for the surrendering of the Fort. The request was handed over to Major Anderson, commander of the fort, in the late afternoon of the 11th.

The request was repealed at 3,15 AM of 12th.

At 4,15 AM of the same day the Confederates opened fire on fort Sumter.
