King Henry VII of England became King when he defeated King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field on 22nd August 1485. This brought an end to the long Civil War known as "The Wars of the Roses."

Henry claimed that his reign dated from the day before the battle, so that those who opposed him would be guilty of treason.

He reigned until his death on 21st April 1509.

His son was the famous Henry VIII of the six wives.
Henry VII was king from 1485-1509, so that's 24 years.
