Louis Pasteur was a French biochemist who, among other things, discovered pasteurization of milk and made contributions to the Germ Theory. He was trained as a chemist but was NOT a Medical Doctor. The term "vaccination" was also coined by him, the term being derived from the French word for Cow (la vache). (It should be noted that even Neolithic cave men recognized that cooking was used in processing food and in effect, killed germs, centuries before Pasteur.)
Being French, Louis Pasteur's first name is pronounced without the s, unlike the English version of the name. Pronunciation: LOO-ee Past-YOOR.

The first pasteurization test was completed by Louis Pasteur (whom its named after) and Claude Bernard on April 20, 1862. It was discovered prior to that but Pasteur had not performed an experiment. The process was to heat a liquid (normally milk) to a high temperature, roughly 71C, and then drastically cool it for at least 15 secs. This kills off most of the bacteria. The amount of time that the liquid is heated and cooled, and to what temperature, is dependent on the liquid being pasteurized. This means the bad bacteria and harmful fungi can be more efficiently stunted in growth.AnswerLouis Pasteur Louis Pasteur was the main one doing the job in some sayings. Claude Bernard was also there to help discover this process. Louis was just he first one to say something about it.
All of Pasteur's discoveries -- and he was responsible for quite a few -- were the result of experiments that were carefully planned, executed, and documented. The one exception was in discovering that infecting chickens with weakened cholera bacteria resulted in the chickens being resistent to all forms of that same bacteria. This happened after both Pasteur and his assistent failed to infect the chickens with "strong" bacteria, later infecting them with the weakened bacteria culture, and then documenting that doing the latter made the chickens sick, but did not kill them. It was an accident that the chickens were infected with weakened bacteria, but it was Pasteur's insight to then infect these same chickens with full strength germs, and his scientific insight to document exactly what he had done and what the results were.

Louis Pasteur, a French biologist and chemist, is often credited with the quote "Fortune favors the prepared mind." The quote emphasizes the importance of being prepared and having a mindset that is ready to take advantage of opportunities when they arise.

== == The USS PASTEUR (registry NCC-58925) was the name of Beverly Picard's medical supply/hospital ship with a spherical hull; the total length of the ship is approximately 320 meters. This Hope Class starship (sometimes erroneously identified as 'Olympic Class') was destroyed in the Devron system (Klingon Territory) due to a core breach after being attacked by two Klingon vessels in an alternate reality. Its name honors Louis Pasteur (1822-1895), the French chemist who founded the science of modern microbiology, invented the process known as pasteurization, and developed several vaccines.
Yes, and being born at the Palace of Versailles makes you about as French as you could ever hope to be.

I need to visit the chemist to pick up my prescription of happy pills. The chemist was researching a new cure for the common cold.He thought about being a chemist when he was younger. The chemist was miserable today.
