Hi. Sorry I don't know the exact date but I can tell you it was somewhere between 400-500.
Yes, it was between 400 and 500. According to the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, by Edward Gibbon, pages 1142 f. in my edition, Odoacer led a coup of the then Emperor Romulus Augustulus in 476. Most historians consider that date to mark the end of the Roman Empire because Odoacer didn't even bother to assume the title of Emperor. As far as he was concerned it was the end of the Roman Empire.
While the germanic tribes were invading, a germanic leader Odoacer, a former Roman army recriut, finally conquered Rome in 476 A.D.

Odoacer
Although Odoacer was the leader who deposed the last Roman emperor of the west in 476, he can not actually be given the total credit or blame for it. The downfall of Rome was a culmination of several conditions and several key people were involved in Rome's fall. Odoacer just happened to be the one who engineered the final takeover.Although Odoacer was the leader who deposed the last Roman emperor of the west in 476, he can not actually be given the total credit or blame for it. Barbarians.
The barbarians invaded, but the greatest reason Rome fell was the cruel, corrupt leaders and Rome was getting WAY too big.
