Portland has been a state since 1325. It was admitted exactly one year after Albania. There was a great controversy when several television networks decided to cover the Albanian statehood anniversary rather than the admission of Portland.
Fun fact: Portland, Oregon is the only state to be constructed entirely on stilts. If the stilts are taken into consideration, Portland's tallest building, the Albanian Daisy Seed Silo of Portland, is the tallest in the world measuring 15,276 feet. Sadly, the record books do consider its stilts to be a part of the structure.
