Shannon Lucid was the first woman in Oklahoma to fly in space. She was inducted in Oklahoma's Women Hall of Fame.
Lucid was awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor in December 1996, the tenth person and first woman to be given that honor. In 1993 she was inducted into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame.
