Subsequent to Jackson's invasion of Florida, John Quincy Adams, the Secretary of State, pressured Spain to cede the area to the United States. Andrew Jackson would go on to serve as the nation's 7th president.
the main reason to why Spain ceded FL to the US was because the Latin American revolution that was happening there, then came the Mexican revolution which the Spainish government had to retake Mexico. FL was a lose cause for them due to their inability to protect the land that they had claimed from the US and the Indians.
