What is the story of Saint John the Baptist?

St. John the Baptist was Our Lord's Cousin(as I am writing this, it happens to be the Feast Day of his Birth). While he was still in his mother's womb, Our Lady visited his mother, & upon sensing his Lord in the Blessed Womb of Mary, leapt for joy. His father was struck dumb when St. Gabriel told him that his wife would conceive a son, as punishment for doubting him, & could only speak again after his wife gave birth. St. John was raised in the wilderness by the Essenes. By the time he was 27, he was Chosen By God to be a Prophet & to prepare the way for the Messiah. When the Messiah Came to him for baptism, he was shocked, & felt unworthy to do so, but Christ Insisted. So John baptized Him, & the Holy Spirit Came & St. John heard from the Father, that Christ Is His Son. After Christ's Public Ministry took place, St. John denounced Herod Antipas' & Herodias' adultery, & was imprisoned for it. Although Antipas was satisfied with just imprisoning John, Herodias still felt threatened by him, & wanted him executed, but Antipas refused to do. So when it was his birthday, Herodias got her daughter to dance for Antipas, & Antipas promised her a reward: Salome(Herodias' daughter) requested the head of John the Baptist, & Antipas reluctantly granted her request.
