Ireland does not really get sandstorms, in the sense of major ones you would see in countries with deserts. What does happen occasionally is that sand from Sahara Desert gets lifted into the air during storms and is carried north across Europe and is deposited across countries, even as far north as Ireland. People find light dustings of sand on the ground and it is particularly noticed when it lands on cars. At the time of answering the question, the most recent time this happened was in March 2014.
