∙ 13y agoPresident Woodrow Wilson asked congress to declare war on Germany on April 2nd, 1917- WW1. Congress then declared war on April 6, 1917, with a 82-6 vote in Senate and 373-50 vote in the House.
In WW2, Congress declared war on Germany on December 11, 1941, with a unanimous vote in both houses.

Four days later, on December 11, in response to a realignment of the Tri-Partite (Axis) Pact, and as a sop to German Admiral Doenitz, who wanted unrestricted submarine warfare against Allied shipping in the Atlantic, Hitler declared war on the United States. Within hours, the U.S. Congress unanimously answered with a resolution declaring war against Germany.
