Area code 512 was one of the original 86 area codes assigned in 1947. At that time, it served all of south Texas, including San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Brownsville, as well as the Austin area.
UK area code 0151 for Liverpool was one of the original area codes introduced in 1958.
