Communist (Red) China did not enter the Vietnam War. They primarily trained MIG pilots in China (the Soviets did the same), and supplied J-6 (Chinese versions of the MIG-19 jet fighter aircraft) aircraft to the North Vietnamese Air Force, as well as supply other war material. Communist (Red) China ENTERED the Korean War 1950-1953.

If you count military advisors then as far back as the 40's if you mean actual ground troops, they started entering Vietnam after the 1954 gulf of Tonkin incident if you mean full on warfare that would be the early 60's but with fighting not really happening on a large scale until the battle of La Drang (1965)
