The first cirme began 3.5 billion years ago, when the first ameoba was able to snatch a food morcel from another ameoba.

For our species, it began 250,000 years ago, when the first human walked out of his cave one day, saw his mate being boffed by the neighbor cave man, said: "Hey! That's my chick!'', and clubbed him to death. Then stole the skin hide he was wearing. Crime tools and techniques have been evolving ever since, - but so have the defenses against them.

Crime can cover a wide variety of actions. Although some animals and cultures practice what appears to us as "crime" (theft, murder, rape, etc) there is no crime if there is no legal or moral system forbidding it. Some crimes with heavy penalties are evident in books such as the Christian Bible which provides death penalties for minor causes (e.g. Leviticus 20: If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death)while other groups have rules permitting blood feuds.

So crime began after rules were made and someone decided not to obey them
