See Related LinksThere is a story of an early use of x-rays in medicine when they were using fluoroscopes. These allowed the patient to remain standing as the doctor looked through a screen and could see inside their body. As the story goes, a patient had been complaining of abdominal pains, so the doctor took a look at his internal organs and saw that they appeared to be too low, so he recommended surgery so he could stitch his organs higher up near his rib cage where he thought they belonged. After the surgery and he felt even worse. It turned out that the doctor was used to seeing cadavers that were lying down, so he learned anatomy by seeing internal organs higher than if the person was standing because gravity naturally brings them lower.
