I'm not 100% sure, but I received my model 6084 Mountain Man Comm. 22 about 24-25 years ago......it was bought new for me by my parents...not sure if we are talking about the same gun,and I'm curious to see any more info anyone has on these guns

Winchester has never made a model 39.Could be reffering to a Marlin model 39 lever action rifle in .22LR?

The caliber should be marked on the barrel near the receiver. The Model 39 is a 22LR
According to the Gun Bluebook Wards Western Field Model 40 was made bu Marlin. It is a Marlin model 101. However both tube fed and magizine fed guns have been labeled model 40. I have one and it looks just like a marlin model 101.
For the most part,deduct the first 2 numbers of the serial number from the year 2000,and that will be the year of production of your Marlin model 60w.
