"Caveman" is not a very precise description for prehistoric humans since some people still live in caves. The animals that were contemporaries with prehistoric humans include most of those that are alive today and those that have gone extinct during the million or so years that humans can be identified from the fossil records. All modern birds and several extinct species such as the dodo and passenger pigeon would have coexisted with prehistoric humans. The wooly mamoth, saber-tooth tiger, and cave bear were depicted in cave drawings or were present in fossil records. It is probable that wolves were living with the early humans but were probably not yet domesticated as dogs. See the link for more detailed information on some of the animals that were contemporaries of North American humans from the last ice age.
The oldest known fossil penguin species lived in the early Paleocene epoch of New Zealand. That was 62 million years ago! No humans were writing way back then.
Humans
Modern humans, or Homo sapiens, are estimated to have appeared around 300,000 years ago based on fossil records. This period coincides with the emergence of anatomically modern humans in Africa.
According to the fossil records uncovered, the large saurian dinosaurs were extinct millions of years before the earliest humans were present.
Anatomically modern humans first appear in the fossil record in Africa about 195,000 years ago.

Homo sapiens (Humans) first appear in the fossil record in Africa about 130,000 years ago. This date does not include supspecies which have dated back to approximately 500,000 years ago. (The scientific method in determining this can be easily researched if you are interested)
