The oriental orthodox, eastern orthodox and roman catholic churches all started when various apostles spread mainly the middle east and eastern Europe.
Soon the churches started to split the oriental orthodox then eastern orthodox and catholics together.
Its hard to say when oriental orthodox started because it consists of several apostolic churches in communion which each other all founded at different times by different apostles
there oriental orthodox christian
Anyone other than Eastern Orthodox eg Oriental Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant
Orthodox Christianity is in actual fact, divided into 2 major denominations. Eastern Orthodox being one, & Oriental Orthodox being the second one.
Most Orthodox Christians are part of the Eastern Orthodox Church (commonly referred to as the Greek, Russian, Serbian churches, etc) but a smaller group exists of Oriental Orthodox (such as the Coptic and Armenian churches).
Eastern Orthodox - allow up to 2 divorces, the 2nd one being only for particular limited circumstances Oriental Orthodox - no divorce except for adultery
Orthodox Christianity is divided into 2 main denominations: Eastern & Oriental. From there on, there are further divisions. Eastern Orthodoxy: Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Armenian, etc. Oriental Orthodoxy: Coptic, Ethiopian, Indian, Syrian, etc.
Mostly Oriental Orthodox branch of Christianity. But also Catholics, Protestants etc.
There were two main churches: Roman Catholic and Orthodox. - UPDATE - Actually there were three main churches at the time, the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church and Oriental Orthodox Church. The Oriental Orthodox Church was the first church to break away from the Orthodox Church (Eastern Orthodox Church) in 451AD followed by the Roman Catholic Church in 1054AD.
The Coptic Orthodox Church granted the Ethopian Church it's own Patriach. Like the greek did to the Serbian,Russian etc However they are in communion with each other and are both part of the Eastern "Oriental' Orthodox church.
Unfortunately not, as the Eastern Orthodox Church (which includes Greek Orthodox) is not in communion with the Coptic Church for now. The Coptic Church is part of the 'Oriental Orthodox' or 'Non-Chalcedonian' group of Churches. There were moves in recent years to unite the various groups, but this has not happened yet.
Most Armenians belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church, which is a sect of Oriental Orthodoxy (not recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate).
That's a bit difficult to explain. There was one church called 'The Catholic Orthodox church" it split into Orthodox and Catholic. However there are two Orthodox churches which both preserve the ancient teachings and traditions of the original church. Except have a different view of the divintiy of christ. The Eastern "Oriental' Orthodox church believes that christ has two natures but united while the Eastern Orthodox church believes that chirst has two natures but seperate. However, they both are the original church and have not changed the apostolic traditions. So the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Churches are equally old since they were both founded by one of the apostles, however the Orthodox church stayed true to the original churches beliefs and traditions. But they became referred to as "Orthodox" in 451 AD (Eastern "Oriental' Orthodox) and in 1054 (Eastern Orthodox)
