The first Palm Sunday took place the year Christ rode into Jerusalem, one week before Passover where He has his Passion, Death and subsequent Resurrection. Christ was believed to be 33 years old at this time, so this would mean it would have happened in 33 or 34 A.D. After the creation of the Church, the tradition of Palm Sunday continued by the blessing of palm branches signifying the beginning of Holy Week.
