All the way back to 1000 A.D. the Itilian people would have parties on halloween. On the way to the parties the people would wear masks and costumes to protect there identies from the evil spirits and ghosts. There was one day a year that the evil spirits and ghosts came out and they would seek people to bring to the afterlife with them. So the only way to not get caugt was to wear costumes and masks. Hopes this helps
because we feel like it!
On Halloween
Halloween is the shortened version of All Hallow's Day's Evening, or "the night before All Hallow's Day."
People dress up in costumes, go trick or treating, give out candy, decorate our houses, and go to parties. Some people in the U.S. don't celebrate Halloween though, for religious reasons.
A Week or so before Halloween..
usually at 6:00 if you want to be on time but it starts getting crowded at 7:00. (crowded like you can see people walking on the sidewalks every where you go basically) have a great Halloween!
Well, it originated from Northern Europe traditions so probably from them. But they are worn to "Scare off the ghost and demons" but as the years passed by they just became something to wear when you go trick or treating. Nothing more to most people.

Having bonfires in Ireland on the 1st of May is not a big thing. In Ireland, the 1st of May is traditionally regarded as the start of summer, so that would be an old reason for celebration. There are other days, such as halloween, that you are far more likely to see bonfires in Ireland.
Halloween was on Monday, October 31st in the year 2011.
