There were people that sold themselves into slavery here in the U.S. in Mass. back in the 1600's. Slavery is has always been frowned upon but there are political reasons to consider it. Such as after being attacked a country might take all the males from 16 years and up as slaves so as to divert any near future attack. It is as old as civilization.
Since the dawn of man there have been slaves. Slaves were often taken in war and bought and sold in markets of the ancient world. The bible refers to slaves, so it has been around for over 10,000 years. Today slavery still exists in many parts of the world.
Of Course. The jews, founders of Israel, at one point in History (Before Jesus) were slaves.
In England (mainly from Liverpool and Bristol). Ships sailed to Africa where they traded goods for slaves. They then sailed across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and the USA where the slaves were sold and the ships took on board a cargo of sugar or cotton which they then brought back to England.
because they felt like it
The so-called sport was known to have existed among the Pagan Greeks. It is not known if they used professional or amateur athletes, or recruits from Prisoners of War or slaves, etc ( Slaves and Prisoners were used in the Roman Gladiatorial combats). As the Greeks and Romans were frequently at war- it makes sense Greek POW"s were enslaved and used as gladiators- such as Spartacus- who was a Greek, a war-like Spartan as the name suggests.
1619 is when the first slaves were brought over.
Slavery in the US started in Jamestown in 1619 when the first Africans arrived as slaves.
European colonists began using Africans as slaves in the early 1500s with the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade. The demand for labor in European colonies led to the systematic enslavement of Africans to work on plantations and in various industries.
Because the Africans were offering them for sale and there was a market for them in America (they were not imported into Europe).
the blues was originally founded by the Africans as they were becoming slaves as was said by the English and Americans. They started to sing out of sadness.
ok
how did the slave start when white people beat black people
Settlements started using slaves to give Africans a better life. Many Africans at the time lived under brutal warlords, who would often sacrifice people to the gods. The Europeans were appalled at this practice, so they took as many Africans as they could to the New World with them. The Europeans soon realized that they could not afford to continue feeding the Africans, and the Africans did not understand European culture enough to feed themselves. So the European's met with the peaceful tribal leaders of the Africans, and together the decided that a system of servitude for food, clothing, and housing for labor would be fair. Contrary to propaganda spread during the American Civil War, most "slaves" (as the northerner's called them) were very content with their lives, and were upset by the outcome of the Civil War.
It started when the Africans were sold as slaves to America. The Africans brought their syncopated rhythm from Africa and combined this syncopation with words to produce work songs. As the slaves worked, they sung these songs. In these work songs, the Africans used a concept called call and repeat, the foundation of the twelve bar blues. Eventually, the work songs evolved into what we call the twelve bar blues.
The first Europeans to arrive in Africa were Portuguese. Once there, they realized that some Africans "owned" other Africans, and purchased the first slaves. Portugal was also the first nation to abolish slavery.
the roman empire started because instead of killing the people they sold them to be slaves
The sons of John Brown helped him in his attempt to start a revolution among the slaves.
