Best Answer

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have always preferred to go by the title "LDS" or "Latter Day Saint" rather than "Mormon". The nickname "Mormon" was given to them by enemies of the Church.

What is the deal with Mormonism?

Mormon's (or The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints aka LDS) believe in the return of Prophets and Apostles to the latter days, that proclaim God's word to the people. The LDS Church does believe in the Bible (King James Version, unedited) but also has another book (The Book of Mormon) which has given the nickname to the church of "Mormons". The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ and his divinity and His coming to the America's after His death and resurrection. While the LDS church does have Prophets and Apostles, they do not worship them but instead the Prophet and Apostles also testify to the church membership of Christ's life and teachings. The LDS church is stated by many groups that they believe they are the only true religion. The LDS church got this reputation due to the fact that they are the only church with certain practices that take place in Temples but do not go against anything in the Bible, but rather support it. The LDS church does not believe people of other religions are evil or anything, they just believe that they do not have the full knowledge of God that is available to those who read the Book of Mormon and attend the LDS Temples. There are groups who speak out against the LDS church for the practice of having Temples and state that evil rites take place in the Temples or that Mormons are not Christians. There are many different arguments both for and against the Mormon church that ultimately come down to ones belief of their own religion or their beliefs of life in general.

Who founded the Mormon trail and why?

I don't know what you mean by founded, but the Mormon trail was the path the lds church took moving from Navoo to Salt Lake City Utah. Why? Because the prophet Joesph Smith, said so. He heard it from god that the saints should go there so they did.

Did Matt stone go on an LDS mission?

No. Matt Stone, creator of South Park, could not have served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" or "LDS" church) because he has never been a Mormon. The Mormon Church only allows baptized members to serve as missionaries, and Matt Stone has never been a baptized Mormon. Matt Stone has said that he considers himself ethnically Jewish, but that he grew up agnostic, has never been a member of any organized religious group, and currently identifies himself as an atheist.

What is Christian lds?

All members of the mainstream LDS church are christian. The church was started in the 1800's by a man named Joseph Smith, but do NOT worship him. They believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are separate beings. They believe in the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ. It is NOT an addition to the bible, it is the record of the tribes in the Americas. They do NOT worship Mormon. They are NOT a cult. To get the best information, do NOT Google it, because there are many anti-mormons out there trying to spread lies and rumors. Go towww.lds.org to get the best information or mormon.org . Also, if there are any LDS members you know, don't be afraid to ask.

Do you have to be Mormon to go to BYU?

No, you do not have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) to go to Brigham Young University. In fact, you have a better chance of being accepted if you are NOT a Mormon. Be prepared though, all students at BYU, regardless of religious affiliation, must follow a strict code of conduct and take a required religion course to qualify for graduation.
