∙ 11y agoIn the late 1930's, a vaccine was developed. After so many years of people getting the vaccine and no one having the disease as a result, it's just kind of faded out of existence. Sure it still exists in bio labs and all that, but for all practical purposes, the vaccine is what eliminated it in the U.S.
