65 million years ago, most of the dinosaurs were killed by a large asteroid, which landed in the Yucatan Peninsula in east Mexico where a very, very wide and deep crater is there today.

The comet killed the dinosaurs by shooting up a cloud of ash which blocked out the sun over most of the Earth and started an ice age which killed them because they couldn't survive the freezing temperatures.

However, some animals survived by exploding into more hairy or insulated-skinned animals such as the mammoth (now extinct) well that was pointless wasn't it!

The crocodiles and alligators are examples of dinosaurs which have survived the ice age the question was when did the dinosaurs get wiped out and I am sorry that I kept going on and on I realize I made a mistake and I am sorry.

from the world flood

Answer:

Unless you happen to believe in the interpretation of Biblical stories, science has proposed several potential scenarios which may ave acted alone or in concert:

  • a cometary impact which severely changed the worlds climate and made the dinosaurs environment uninhabitable
  • the introduction of diseases from other continents
  • Te spread of grass which supplanted the normal foods of the dinosaurs
  • world wide climate change related to drifting continents, ocean currents or volcanic action
  • the evolution of mammals which were better at using the same resources

65.5 million years ago, an asteroid with a diameter of 6 miles crashed into what is now the Yucatan Peninsula, creating the Chixculub crater. It threw so much dust into the atmosphere, that sunlight was blocked for months. Plants died without sunlight, and the herbivorous dinosaurs died without plants to eat. The carnivores soon died out, too, because their prey was gone.

There is evidence, too, that the Chixculub impact preceded the dinosaur extinction by hundreds of thousands of years, until another, possibly larger asteroid struck and eliminated the non avian dinosaurs once and for all. Even without the asteroids, dinosaurs were already dealing with the negative affects of climate change.
