Do you get to pick your MOS in the US Marine Corps. I am not sure if you can pick your own or you have a wish list of 3 MOS's you want and they decide 1 of the 3. I want to be an 0311. Help?

The Marine Corps is very good at avoiding MOS overages in the support services. If you join the Marines to be a cook, they let you enlist to be a cook because they thought one of their cooks was about to get out of the Corps. If that guy stays in the Corps, they WILL reclassify you to something else. This happened to my brother--he was reclassified to three different things before he got out of training. Your case is different: there are never enough 0311s. If you want to be an 0311, and you can pass infantry school, you'll be an 0311.

Why does the marine corps suck?

they don't ^ Unless you actually enjoying thinking for yourself and making your own choices OR learning things that will actually help you later in life...the saying once a marine always is a marine is true, because they don't want to admit that's basically the only thing they excelled at. Nothing like spending 4 or 5 years of your life to come out only to shingle roofs or flip burgers.

Does navy defend all branches of military in court martial cases and who prosecutes them?

No - the U.S.Navy, Army, and Air Force have their own Judge Advocate General (JAG) staff corps; the U.S. Marine Corps and the Coast Guard do not maintain their own separate staff corps, but have their own legal divisions. The Marine Corps Judge Advocate Division, the Marines' legal arm, falls under the JAG of the Navy; the Coast Guard's equivalent is their CG Legal Division. Each branch corps or division specializes in prosecuting/defending cases within their own branch. One major difference in Marine Corps lawyers is that unlike their staff officer counterparts in the other branches, they are full line officers, meaning they can fill any officer position (combat or otherwise) in the Fleet Marine Force.
