If you disconnected your speakers (headphones) while you listening to music (movie) and connected it again Vista will not resume sound. What you have to do is open Sound control window and connect disconnect the speakers. If vista recognizes it you will see that. You have problems with the sound card then you have check drivers. if it didn't help you have to check the audio card because it can hardware problems.
