Hot and cold water taps in homes were invented by the Romans before the birth of Christ. In fact, a modern American could walk into ancient Rome and be quite comfortable. Roman homes had, in addition to hot and cold running water, central heating, and flush toilets. Roman engineers created a labyrinth of water pipes and sewers which served every Roman home. Water was heated and stored in cisterns outside the home, and heated water was not only on tap, but also flowed under the flooring stones to heat the rooms. Cold water flowed directly from the water mains into the pipes for the home, and was controlled in the home by taps. In short, except for the method of heating (the Romans used wood; we use gas or electricity), their water system was completely modern. Unfortunately, all this information was lost after the fall of Rome, and had to be reinvented.
That water is used in the cold taps in your bathroom and for the heated water you use. Don't drink from these taps.

taps
Taps need not be made with metal.... But most taps are because they don't melt if hot water passes through............
Check the upstairs taps for blockage in aerator or internally.

The four national taps are the Local Catchment water, Imported water, NEWater and Desalinated water.
Usually there are no letters on French taps; some old taps bear the letters C (for chaud = hot) and F (froid = cold). Hot water taps are always located on the left side, cold water taps on the right. It is also standard to find color marks (blue for cold, red for hot) on the taps. On newer models, having a central lever instead of two taps, you turn the lever to the left for hot water and to the right for more cold water. Also the blue and red marks may be found on these type of taps.
Underground/Above ground pipes from the water station
by turning the taps of when your not using it
we can conserver water by not living taps running and don't play with water
Very easy once the supply lines to both the hot and cold water supply are shut and then work can proceed on changing out the "taps"
