April 15th 1912 the Titanic sunk. It hit an ice-burg in the North Atlantic. The Carpathia was the rescue ship. She was the closest to the Titanic but still could only come four hours after the were called. Having interviewed Lady Duff Gordon, I know that the Carpathia arrived in New Yourk on April the 18th 1912 on the Tuesday night.
The titanic was a ship, known as the biggest ship in the world. It was famous for crashing into an ice - berg when it was called 'unsinkable'.
They were shocked at first but then thought it was some sort of preplanned activity and some passengers began having a "snowball war" with the debris from the iceberg that was on deck.
