The USA "officially" entered WWII on December 7th / 8th when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. However they were already involved when they were assisting England with ships, weapons, money, things the island needed for the people to survive. Some American and Canadian men went to England in the early forties to join up with the RAF and the Royal Navy to help them fight Hitler. Roosevelt had developed the lend/lease act to lend equipment and supplies to assist England. But, war was not legally declared until after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
