False obviously. For 2 reasons, one if the US even tried, they would of succeeded. Another is that if the US wanted to defeat England then it would make more sense in just becoming allies with Hitler instead fighting with a country that you want to defeat.
In World War II the US fought with France,(before it was conquered by Germany) Great Britain(or England), Canada, Australia, China, Russia(After Russia was attack by Germany) and i think that's it. Their main allies were Russia and England.
