What region of the chromosome serves as the attachment site for microtubules during Cell division?

The centromeres.

What is telophase and anaphase?

Telophase and Anaphase are stages in Mitosis, which is the non-sexual reproduction of a cell. It's happening in your body right now!Remember the stages like this:ProphaseMetaphaseAnaphaseTelophaseProphase is when the DNA in the nucleus of the cell becomes visible, as it is copying itself, forming homologus pairs. This is obvious under a microscope as a dot in the cell.Metaphase is when the homologus pairs then line up across the cell. the chromosomes are still connected by their centromeres. There are two centrioles on either side of this line at opposite ends of the cell. Spindle fibres coming from these centrioles attatch themselves to the centromeres of the chromosomes, one on either side.Anaphase is when the spindle fibres attached to the centromeres pull apart the homolgus pairs, each taking one chromosome to the opposite sides of the cell.Telophase is when the chromosomes for little nucleuses at either end of the cell. The cell membrane then begins to grow into the cell, splitting them apart. The cell then returns to Interphase, which it is in for most of its time.

Do the chromosomes line up in the center of the cell?

They line up during metaphase of mitosis and meiosis

What phase occurs when chromosomes line up in the center of the cell?

metaphase

What stage of meiosis is when chromosomes line up in the center of the cell?

Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell during meiosis.

What is the double stranded chromosomes move to the center of the cell the centromeres separate?

anaphase

What is created in metaphase?

metaphase is the phase of mitosis in which the chromosomes line up across the center of the cell and the centromeres attach to the spindle fibers. Good luck!! I learned this in 7th grade science this year. Tricky stuff!!!

What happen during metaphase stage of mitosis?

In metaphase, the chromosomes line up in the center of the cell (aka the metaphase plate or equatorial plate) and then the spindle fibers attach to the centromeres. Centromeres: the center of the two conjoined chromosome pairs where they will break into two halves in the next phase Picture of metaphase on Wikipedia: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/07/Metaphase.svg/800px-Metaphase.svg.png

What phase do centromeres break and chromosomes begin migration toward opposite poles of the cell?

In anaphase, centromeres break and chromosomes begin migration toward opposite poles of the cell.

What happens to chromosomes during Meiosis 2?

the chromosomes pairs line in the center of the cell the chromosomes pairs line in the center of the cell

What are Microtubles that extend from the poles of cell to the centromeres during cell division called?

spindle fibers

When do the centromeres split and form the chromatids?

Centromeres are specialized structures on the chromosome of a cell, which joins two sister chromatids. Centromeres splite during Anaphase II.

What two types of paired cell structures are copied?

Chromosomes and centromeres.

What holds together the sister chromatids during the cell cycle?

centromeres

Which phase of a cell cycle do two centromeres arrange at opposite poles of the cell?

This event occurs in prophase.

What stage of mitosis is when the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell?

the cell is in the stage of metaphase.

What is the phase called in the cell cycle when centromeres divide?

It is the Ana Phase. It is the shortest phase
