Male and female pair of eagles bond for life and mate together. The female lays a few eggs in a nest high up in a tree, and both the parents hunt and catch fish to feed the young, called eaglets. After several weeks, the young are encouraged to begin flying on their own and begin to hunt on their own as well.

Gold eagles usually mate for life. The pair of birds build several eyries in their territory. The female lays from one to four eggs at a time. They mate like any other bird. The male will mount the female and press his cloaca into hers. Sperm passes into the female.

Contrary to myth eagles do not mate in the air. After courtship, the eagles find a high branch or limb and mating begins. The male eagle mounts the female and stands with himself on her back. Although eagles do not have a penis, they coupulate via clouca. The males sperm is transferred to the female from his testes through a clocal kiss, when he rubs his clouca onto the females. This impregnates the female. After a while they will have eggs and stay mated for life.
