Best Answer

Uncontrolled pain, nausea, and vomiting. Fever. Unable to urinate.

Additional information: Many people have kidney stones and don't even realize it. Those are the people who are staying home. If your stones are being dealt with (you're on medication for pain while you wait for your operation date to come around, for example), you don't need to go to the hospital. When you can't get comfortable because the pain is THAT BAD, you're soaking through your bedclothes, and you have diarrhea, head for the hospital. (But don't drive yourself.)

Kidney stones cause problems when they interfere with the normal flow of urine. They can obstruct (block) the flow through the ureter (a tube) that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder.

depends on what kind of stone but basically hard stones form in the kidneys that can be silent until they start to move then then they cause pain in the sides nausea and vomiting, bloody urine etc.if they r small enough they can pass otherwise they have to be broken up with ultrasound so they can pass.they can run in families and sometimes uric acid tablets need to be taken to prevent future stones.

Once the stone is in the ureter, however, most people will experience bouts of very severe pain. The pain is crampy and spasmodic, and is referred to as "colic."
