Muslims start fasting from the Sunrise until Sunset. Part of fasting is not to eat, drink, or have any sexual acts. I guess you can start with water or juice fasting! If you take a 2-3 days fasting period in every month (or every 2nd months), that is a good start! Also eliminating alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, and sugar if possible is very helpful! Red meats and other animal foods, including milk products and eggs, could be avoided for a day or two before fasting.
Juice fasting is something in which you have to do fasting but you can have juices.
Fasting isn't a viable way of losing weight. Whatever you lose you are more than likely to put back on once you start eating again.
