on the highway when you are not towing anything and you want to save some fuel, its another gear which lowers the rpm's and the torque, thus saving fuel.

I am a bit confused. Overdrive is a high gear used for highway purposes. You should always try to use overdrive unless the Jeep is under a heavy load or climbing hills. Thus when towing it's probably best to not to use overdrive.
Use what ever Jeep built it with.

You do not have the Jeep in OverDrive and risk damaging your Jeeps transmission on the highway. To fix this hit the button on the left hand side of your gear selector knob.
