Active transport
Active transport is the movement of a substance across a cell membrane against its concentration gradient and Passive transport means moving biochemicals and other atomic or molecular substances across membranes.
These are three different ways that cells have to get things in and out of the cell. Passive transport is movement without the use of energy, active transport requires energy.Active transport requires energy since the molecules are going toward a region that has a higher concentration of that molecule. The cell is 'stuffing' more into itself.Endocytosis means to 'take into the cell'. Usually this a larger molecule and cell must wrap part of itself around the molecule and then can bring it inside. This is a type of phagocytosis (cell eating). This requires energy as well.
Trans-membrane proteins that can be used for active or passive transport of material into and out of the cell.
Some bacteria create enzymes which travel through the cell wall and digest the food. Then the digested food gets absorbed back through the skin of the cell. This method is called passive transport. In active transport, however, the food is drawn into the cell and it is digested inside the cell. Active transport can require only a single molecule of liquid, whereas passive requires a great deal more.
It occurs when there are more of that certain molecule on the outside of the cell than the inside. When this is the case, the molecule will automatically pass through the membrane without the cell using energy.
Active transport
The most basic difference between active and passive transport is that active requires energy while passive does not. You would require active transport if the substance is going against the concentration of molecules inside and outside of the membrane or if the substance is particularly large. Passive is more for smaller molecules that go with the concentration of the molecules inside and outside of the membrane.

Proteins that carry out passive transport include channel proteins and carrier proteins. Passive transport is "passive" because it does not use energy. The use of passive transport is also called "facilitated diffusion." Proteins that carry out passive transport includes the proton pump and the sodium-potassium pump; these require energy to function.

there are two ways to transport things into a cell: active and passive transport. In active transport the cell has to physical engulf whatever it needs from outside the cell. In passive transport, if something inside the cell has less of the item that is outside of the cell, the things outside of the cell go into the cell until the number is balanced. This happens automatically so it doesn't involve energy.

Osmosis is the diffusion of water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane. Diffusion is a passive transport that goes from a higher concentration area to a lower concentration area.Passive transport means that there is no energy required to move it.

active transport
It would be active transport, a process which requires a cell to use its own energy (unlike passive transport).
