A lot would depend on how long it takes to get hot. Try checking the engine coolant level ,next, check the oil level. Then check the battery.
the engine has not been timed correctly
I have a 1979 corvette and had the same problem. what I did was change the starter and the battery. it starts better than my new car.
Sounds like the engine is using the battery as the source of power instead of using the alternator. The main job of the battery is to give power to the starter that "starts" the engine. Once the engine is started the alternator kicks in to maintain power throughout the vehicle, as well as keeping the battery strong. But if the alternator isn't working, the engine will get it's power from the battery. And without the alternator keeping the battery strong, the battery will die. Note: between the alternator and the battery, there is a voltage regulator, this make sure that the battery only gets the power it needs. Oh, one more note, here's a way to tell if the alternator is working properly. (Start the engine, while it is running remove one of the battery cable for just a few seconds.)if the engine stops, then you have an alternator problem still. Check your wires. Or replace the unit. for more answers. email tjjjlong@aol.com A constant 12 volt drain on the electrical system, even when the car is off
Sounds like you are reversing the cables.
Sounds like the battery has a dead cell
Sounds like your battery may be very low; if it turns over slowly when it eventually starts turning, definitely try jump starting or charging the battery and trying again.
It sounds like your alternator is no longer recharging your battery. You probably need a new alternator.
he starts a big storm like poiseidon
Best guess would be that you have a short to ground somewhere that is draining your battery.
you must first ck the engine battery system also you must ck the battery cables to be sure they or not dirty at the battery !!! if at all else fails take small hammer too the starter by tape on the starter and have some else turn the key to start at the same time if the engine starts the starter is bad !!!! the battery may need to be taken out to have it ck if so take the battery to a parts house like auto zone they ck the battery for free in most cases. If the engine cranks, but doesn't turn over, check your fuel pump. Your engine needs three things for combustion (assuming it is a gas engine), and they are spark, air, and fuel.
bad ground
Sounds like you might have a bad starter relay.
