Most animals on earth have saliva glands in their mouth. When they hear, smell, or see anything that is food, this causes a reaction in the saliva glands to over- salivate, because the saliva helps break down the food, and because the body (for some reason) thinks the food is already being eaten.
Salivating when it sees food
Pavlov predicted that if started a metronome everytime before he gave his dog a food, then eventually the dog would be conditioned to start salivating every time he heard the metronome. (Aka classical conditioning)
For his study of the physiology of digestion. It was the first Classical Conditioning study. He inserted tubes to see how much a dog salivated when it was about to be fed. He rang a bell whenever he was about to feed them and eventually the dogs associated the bell with food and started salivating. Look up Pavlov's Dog to find more about it.
well you should take it to the vet if its doing that...
An unconditioned response is a response that is natural and occurs without behavioral conditioning. Examples would be: Someone jumping when they are startled A dog salivating when it is receiving food or a treat
That would be Ivan Pavlov- he discovered it while he was doing salivation studies on dogs. It all started when a student of his began to notice that, after a while, the dog started salivating before he was given food (the unconditioned stimulus). Pavlov then started to study this phenomenon, which became known as classical conditioning.
Some studies have shown that organic food may have higher nutritional value than conventional food. This is because organic foods are grown in healthier soil without the use of synthetic chemicals to improve digestion_. Learn more_
