In order to format Windows XP, you will have to use the installation disc. This will erase all the data that you have on your computer.
plug it in your computer. wait about a minute, go to "my computer" and right click the label of your drive. go down the list and click "format..." it will bring up a window. click "format" in the window. it will ask wether you want to or not. click format or ok wichever is there. it may take awhile. it will say "format complete". click OK and exit out of all windows. If the drive is corrupted, chances are that you wont be able to get it working again, but it's worth a try to format it. If you're using a Windows OS, go to "My Computer", right click on the USB Icon and there should be an option to "Format". Click this option and a new window should pop open - click "Start" and this should begin the format process.
I'm not sure what you mean. But if you mean that you want to format a hard drive or partion which is not a system file disk/partion. Then it's really easy to do. Start My Computer, right click on the hard drive/partion which you want to format and choose format, then choose file system which you prefer to format, and press ok/start.
